Belly Dancing classes are a fabulous way to increase & maintain your fitness levels while learning of the history of this beautiful art form.
Adriana's many years of experience allow her to structure classes to suit students from all walks of life & with varying capabilities. Her goal is to have even the most unco-ordinated of dancers leave class with a sense of achievment & enthusiasm to develop further.
Focussing mainly on Egyptian dance, some styles taught are Sha'abi, the popular folk dance, Beledi, a more refined but earthy style, Raqs Sharqi or Danse Orientale classical style & Khaleegy which is from the Gulf regions of Saudi Arabia.
Adriana has permission to teach Amera's Bellyrobics & Keti Sharif's A to Z & Astrobelly formats & includes elements of these in her classes.
Props that may be used are the "assaya" - stick / cane, the veil - more a Western influence, "Isis wings" - a fantasy prop reminiscent of Pharonic times & "sagat" - the finger cymbals.
Class Level Structure
All beginners start with attention to basic dance posture & isolations of the body, leading into simple combinations of movements to create dances which can be performed as group choreographies or be developed into your own unique style while respecting the traditions of the cultures we are taking from.
Belly Dance Basics is for those students who have no prior experience or those wishing to further polish the movements they have learned.
Beginners Continuation is for those students who have completed the Basics course & wish to further develop their dancing. Students may spend several terms at this level until they feel confident.
Intermediate is for those students seeking further challenge in their dancing & who now have a grasp on dance movement vocabulary. Again, students may spend several terms at this level.
Advanced classes are for those students who are now "hooked on Belly Dance" & may express an interest in the challenge of performing. Private classes available by appointment.
